PROF. DR. FATİH SELAMİ MAHMUTOĞLU
Fatih Selami MAHMUTOĞLU graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Law in 1983 andvstarted his master in the same university. He accomplished his master degree by doing hisvthesis defence on subject of “Right to Reply and Rectification”.
After receiving his master’s degree, he started his doctorate study at İstanbul University .He went to Germany in 1988 by YÖK scholarship and did academic researches at Max Planckv Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg in order to complete histhesis. He turn back to Turkey in 1990 and was assigned to the Department of Criminal and Criminal Procedure Law of İstanbul University. In 1994, he received “doctor” title by defending his thesis “Tendency to Eliminate Misdemeanours from Being Crimes and Sanction Systems İn Administrative Criminal Law” successfully. Since date 24.02.1995 he took up a position of Assistant Professor in the same department. He did scientific studies on Economic crimes at Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law with a two-month scholarship in 1996.
Since 1996, Fatih Selami MAHMUTOĞLU focuses on Economic crimes and He was awarded the title of Associate Professor with his thesis on wrote “Crime arising from credit law in the context of economic crimes and administrative crimes at 13.11.2000 and the title of “Professor” at 11.02.2008
Apart from his academic works, he was an active member of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Bar Association between 2006 and 2008 and on the date of 19.09.2008 he was elected as a representative member of the Board of Directors of Istanbul University for four years. Beginning from 2008 he is editor of Society of Medical Ethics and Medical Law.
During his academic life, Fatih Selami Mahmutoğlu attended a great number of national and international congress and wrote academic article over eighty. As a representative of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, he worked in the Justice High Commission on the preparation of the new Turkish Penal Code. He attended clarification seminars for the new Turkish Penal Code, which took place with the cooperation of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations and the local bar associations in many different cities. He also participated in academic meetings on the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes, which were organized by different law faculties and associations.
Fatih Selami MAHMUTOĞLU still works as a lawyer registered with the Istanbul Bar Association. He also works contractually at the Department of Criminal and Criminal Procedure Law of the Turkish – German University.
He is married and has two children.
